Stoneridge Children's Montessori School has initiated the Stoneridge Scholars Program, a "good neighbor" outreach to families in Beverly and neighboring communities. Students entering grades 4, 5 and 6 have an opportunity to apply for multi-year competitive scholarships.
Students awarded these scholarships will have the privilege of attending an outstanding independent school with small class size that delivers on its educational philosophy: helping each student to learn to his full potential. The School curriculum is taught by an outstanding and experienced faculty. The core academic areas—mathematics, science, language arts, social studies—are taught in an interdisciplinary manner, and the curriculum includes instruction in Spanish, art, music, physical education, and life skills. Students participate in curriculum-related field trips throughout the school year. The School is located adjacent to Endicott College in a new facility, sited on 9.5 acres of wooded land. The students use the athletic facilities of Endicott College for their competitive athletic program.
Fourth, fifth and sixth graders enter in to the Upper Elementary Program.
Through the Stoneridge Scholars Program (SSP), the School is looking for students who have these two key qualities:
- aiming towards excellence in the classroom, both academically and socially
- assuming responsibility, e.g., acting in a play, participating in sports, managing a paper route,or volunteering
Eligibility & Cost
Students currently enrolled in public and parochial schools are eligible. These scholarships will cover 50% of the cost of tuition and fees the first year, and 40% for subsequent years. Families can also apply for Financial Aid above and beyond their scholarship amount.
Tuition for 2009-10 school year:
Tuition | Tuition after 50% scholarship | |
Grade 4,5,6 | 17,100 | 8,550 |
In addition to tuition, families pay an activity fee of $600 and a technology fee of $200. Stoneridge Scholars can apply for Financial Aid above and beyond their scholarship amount. See Financial Aid.
SSP Application Process
Parents will apply to the School for their child in the regular fashion (see Admission Process). In addition, applicants will:
a) submit an essay (or equivalent) that they have written, and
b) identify one teacher (current year or last year’s) who will act as their “sponsoring teacher” by filling out a questionnaire about the student.
From the group of students who apply to the SSP, about a dozen will be invited to become “SSP finalists.” These finalists will:
a) spend a full day at the school,
b) be interviewed for 20 minutes by one or more Stoneridge faculty, plus a Stoneridge student.
Key Dates
Applicants for the SSP program should apply as soon as possible. Applications will be accepted until all Stoneridge Scholar awards have been made.
